REHAB’s Community Liaison Manager, Lyvonne Loui, celebrated her 40th year at REHAB! She’s seen our hospital grow and excel over the past 40 years…but one thing that’s always stayed the same? Our H.E.A.R.T.

Honesty - Speak and act with truth and respect
Engagement - Embrace and commit to our mission, vision and values
Aloha - Serve others with a spirit of kindness and compassion
Resilience - Rebound and recover with a sense of urgency
Teamwork - Work together for success

Q: When did you start your career at REHAB?
A: August 1984, my first day was up on floor A3 with the patients affected by brain injuries. I was oriented and then began to help with treatment. We did shower training, saw patients for clinic then more shower training!

Q: What positions have you held over the years and what do you do in your current role as Community Liaison Manager?
A: I have been a Staff Occupational Therapist (OT), Senior OT, Clinical OT Specialist, Inpatient Therapy Supervisor, Intake Coordinator, and Clinical Liaison Manager. In my current role as Community Liaison Manager, I go out and assess patients to see if they’re a good candidate to be admitted to REHAB. I also orient and train new staff and go to different hospitals to educate them on what we do and offer here at REHAB.

Q: What is your favorite part of your day at REHAB?
A: Spending time with patients and seeing how they transform once they are at REHAB.

Q: What has been your most memorable experience from the last 40 years at REHAB?
A: There are many stories to share after 40 years...helping a triple amputee learn to drive was incredible. I also worked with a young lady who suffered a brain aneurysm with multiple complications. When she came to REHAB she had difficulty using all her extremities–but we eventually got her ambulating and doing her self care with the support of her boyfriend. But what was really special, is that they kept in touch with us after all these years. It’s been wonderful to know they got married and eventually had a child. They come to visit every couple of years so it was wonderful to meet their son. There are so many stories of patients and their families that are very memorable.

Q: What does REHAB mean to you?
A: REHAB is a place where we can all work together to help patients continue their journeys and thrive. I truly enjoy working with the staff at all levels. Everyone is such an integral part of providing H.E.A.R.T. for the patients and their families.
