On Wednesday, January 9th, REHAB’s Creative Arts Program celebrated its Silver Anniversary with the unveiling of a commemorative mural displayed in our Frear Cafe.
The Unveiling Ceremony
Artists that collaborated on this art display attended an intimate ceremony along with their family and loved ones - it would be the very first time that they would see their creations pieced together with the other art pieces. Melissa Mullen and Reuben Young, who facilitate and manage REHAB’s Creative Arts Program, installed the mural and shared how special it was to be a part of something so unique and what the mural represents.
The Commemorative Mural
The original and one-of-a-kind art piece is a composition of individual pieces from 30 different artists that participate in REHAB’s program, and is a visual expression of how the Creative Arts Program has impacted them as they rebuild their lives. The free-flowing design of the mural was created specifically with the artists in mind. It depicts movement and symbolizes the limitless boundaries of expressing oneself through art.
