REHAB Hospital of the Pacific (REHAB), the VA Pacific Islands Healthcare System, Adaptive Adventures and Hawai‘i Bicycling League will be holding a free adaptive cycling event on November 23, 2024 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Kapiolani Park across from the Diamond Head Tennis Center. The purpose of this event is to provide community members with physical disabilities a safe space to experience adaptive cycling with the support of trained physical therapists and volunteers. Participants will journey through planned routes using equipment provided by Adaptive Adventures.
“We are elated to be hosting our sixth adaptive cycling event,” said Stephanie Nadolny, President and CEO of REHAB.
“Seeing both our returning participants and first-timers having fun and cycling together is a testament to the importance of events like these in our community. They’re a fantastic source of camaraderie, confidence building and above all–joy!”
Participants must be able to self-transfer up or down by 12+ inches, be comfortable in group spaces with noise and wear a helmet when utilizing the adaptive bicycles. Due to the size of the equipment, the bicycles may not be suitable for children. Please contact 808.566.3741 or email community@rehabhospital.org for more information.
All participants and volunteers must register prior to the event. To sign up as a participant or volunteer, click the button below or visit rehabhospital.link/cycling.
