Recovery and Support
REHAB uses an interdisciplinary team approach to provide traumatic brain injury patients with customized care plans to achieve optimal results. The team of specialists include a physiatrist (rehabilitation doctor), physical therapist, occupational therapist, speech & language pathologist, recreational therapist, nurse, care coordinator, neuropsychologist and dietitian, who provide one-to-one therapy and care. This includes:
- Collaboration with Certified Brain Injury Specialists (CBIS) - REHAB therapists with expertise and knowledge to work with special needs following a brain injury
- Program oversight by Medical Director
- Open-ended communication
- Risk factor and lifestyle modifications
- Individual patient treatment plans
- Discharge summary to physicians
Caregiver Training
Caregivers and family members are provided with a three-hour Caregiver Education and Training (CET) prior to discharge, meeting with each member of the interdisciplinary care team to get hands-on training.
